“Pass the

Baton!”

Run Tomo, Japan
Funded by Daiwa Foundation
September & October 2019

Ellie completed an artist in residence “Pass the Baton!” with Run Tomo; a relay running race with people living with dementia and their carers in Japan, a project set up by the Dementia Friendship Club. Ellie travelled across Japan to experience the project with the various towns & cities, inviting participants to document their shared experiences whilst running together: from the smiles and sweaty brows to the bright orange t-shirts & decorations across the streets.

Following on from the success of “Only Connect!” Ellie and the steering group will be setting up Run Tomo Cornwall, twinned with Run Tomo in Japan, inviting people living with dementia & their families across Cornwall to participate in the project.
